LUXURY RETAIL – NOKIA / VERTU

A global search for a culturally balanced senior team to lead a ground-breaking, highly confidential start-up project for Nokia telecommunications, resulting in 27 placements and a 25% saving on recruitment costs and turnover in excess of €80m within two years.

 

THE CHALLENGE:

Endaba was approached by a leader in mobile telecommunications to work with them on a high-profile resourcing and consulting project – creating a world-first luxury mobile phone brand. Our remit was very challenging: we were asked to fill 27 senior roles without acknowledging the company or naming the project. In fact, only the President of the global organisation and the few executives who moved across to set up the brand were aware of what it was. We also needed to ensure diverse global cultures were represented in this team.

 

THE APPROACH:

We conducted a rigorous, truly global search targeting specific individuals working within the international arena who understood luxury, lifestyle brands, and high standards of customer service and satisfaction.

 

THE RESULT:

  • The world’s first luxury mobile phone brand was successfully launched and had a turnover in excess of €80m within two years, exceeding its year one target by 14.5%
  • Endaba directly impacted the global and European structures through intelligent placement, integration and alignment of 27 executives and senior managers – representing 60% of Vertu’s entire global team
  • This highly effective, culturally balanced team became operational well within the time frames we were given
  • We reduced the company’s set-up and recruitment costs by 25% – a total saving of £200,000
  • The key to success here was our intrinsic understanding of the luxury goods market on an international scale coupled with our knowledge of effective team dynamics
